Project Presentation  15 april 2015

Friday evening we had our first official event as the Wild Lemon Project in Bern, Switzerland. Around 80 people came to celebrate people and food.
The evening was soaked in beautiful smiles. A colourful, wild and ethnic buffet was prepared by our Afghan and Sri Lankan friends and we heard interesting talks about the current refugee crisis.
The event was an opening ceremony for our new catering service with the aim to integrate asylum seekers in Switzerland.

We learned a lot about the challenges of such an event, especially coordinating the different aspects of the menu. We tried to use only seasonal and regional food products which would otherwise have gone into the waste. At the same time we still wanted to maintain the traditional touch of the different countries in the food. We worked hard but joyful together as a team and finally presented a colourful plate containing much more than only food. A plate that symbolises the challenges and rewards of integration.

Integration is not given a thing! We as citizens and as future citizens have to get involved and make it happen. We stand up and greet the immense potential that lies in this Inter-Ethnic encounterings. Our first event could not have displayed it better: beauty, joy and fullfillment – revealing when challenge is accepted.

Thanks to everyone who joined us and for all the great support!
If you are interested in hiring us as a catering, do not hesitate.

See you soon,
